Well, I got my new helmet today. With shipping and everything it cost me $85. It's a flat black Advanced Hwak modular helmet. I have been wanting a modular for a while so I can ride more comfortably with my glasses on rather than putting contacts in all the time. For the money paid, I wasn't expecting much. I have to admit, it looks a lot better than I thought it would. I'll give a quick run-down of the pros and cons so far....
Pros:
-Honestly lighter than my KBC full face (hard to believe but true)
-pretty darn comfy on the skull
-super cheap (price)
-nice and comfy for glasses wearing folks
-great for stop lights and such (just put up the front for lotsa air)
-DOT rated
Cons:
-Cheap plastic flip up chinbar
-D rings are thin and flimsy
-Vents are about as crappy of a design as you could imagine
-chinbar mechanism is made of plastic (not to sturdy)
This helmet is definitely worth the money in my opinion. It is very comfortable and incredibly light for a modular. I now ride with my glasses on comfortably. One other note, these are sized just a little larger than other helmets I have tried.
