  • Kat no go! no power at starter

    hey all, first time posting!

recently i brought a written off kat600 2004 and rode it 500kms, parked it up and haven't given it much thought. In the last few weeks though i have been getting it up to spec for a vehicle inspection (brake pads etc) but when i tryed to start it yesterday it wouldn't wind over. i test for power at the starter , and start solenoid only to find that the solenoid wasn't being pulled in. additionally i saw that the neutral light wasn't working when in neutral (could spin wheel freely) and that 2 pins had come out of the dash connector. i can't go any further easily without some guidance.this is were you guys come in.

i need a wiring diagram and a dash board pinout if anyone has either.

    cheers

Clean the battery terminals, put the battery on a charger and see if it will hold a charge, if not, you need a new battery. Chances are that if it's been sitting for any long period of time it will need one anyway.

Yea it was, so i rooted the battery out of my van and used jumper leads while testing. It tested at 12.76V witch to me is a charged battery.

Been seeing alot of spam lately... weird. As stupid as that article is and pointless that it is there, there is a good point that it reminds me of. Sometimes, you just gotta step away. If you feel like you have tried everything, and your at your wits end.... sleep on it, start fresh the next day. Sounds stupid but it works.

The beast lives once again! after studying the wiring diagram and smashing a spare dash cluster to study the circuits, i found a loose wire to the speedo(which turned out to be the neutral switch power feed) and located the correct pin it mates with. i plugged it in and started it up! cheers to all and sorry if this was considered spam.

Spam remark was not directed towards your post. The actual spam was posted to this and many other threads, but has been deleted by the mods, so is no longer here for us to have to deal with.

Thanks for the follow up with the resolution.
