    If you're getting 6.5v across your battery terminals with the ignition off - poor thing has passed on. It is an ex-battery.

      Stumpy gave me the hint I needed.

      The missing part was my brain when I charged he battery last evening and worked on it this evening.

      Battery in the Kat is 12V, not 6.

      Apparently the vacation took more out of me than I thought.

            Easy fix. Don't use the horn...do like Hobbit did at the 09 rally and attach one of those squeeze bulb horns to your bars.
