Just tried starting my 03 katana 600 up for spring and I lose all power. Battery was removed for winter and I put it on a trickle charge until it said it was good. When the key is not in, the clock works so I know the battery is good but when I turn the key, the clock dies and the bike will not start. I am not very knowledgeable with bikes. What are the first things I should check?

Did you have the battery on the trickle charger all winter or just prior to installing it? The clock won't pull a lot of power so a battery that is too weak to turn the starter will run the clock with no trouble. Try to have a load check done on the battery to ensure it's still good.
I've had bikes that the batteries would lose enough juice over a month that there was no way to bring them back with a charger. Had to buy a new battery even though the old one was only 6 months old.“If you don’t like change, you will like being irrelevant even less.”

If the clock goes out when you turn key on... something isn't hooked up right.
