  • Starter relay

    Morning guys and girls.

I am smack bang in the middle of a total rebuild on my pre 750. My freind that is helping me out decided to wire up the starter relay the wrong may round, don't ask!

It blew it so I got me this off ebay [ame="http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190672574283?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch% 2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D19067 2574283%26_rdc%3D1"]http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190672574283?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch% 2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D19067 2574283%26_rdc%3D1[/ame]

Now it states it is a direct replacement but I have got it on the bike and nothing... There is power coming in as we get lights and turn signals, but no click on ignition, no turn over...

Any ideas wtf could be up?

Sorry but I will ask, what could you do to blow up a starter relay other than wiring the output straight to ground? There may be other problems as the start button itself may be fried.

      Check your circuit breaker.

Honest answer is I don't know. I walked away and he was tightening the nuts. I came back 2 minutes later, started the bike and the engine revved up as if the carbs were stuck open, I hit the kill switch and it didn't die, so the switch being fried may well be a good diagnosis.
