kickstand relay switch bypass 90 kat 750

I removed the kickstand safety switch and wired the wires together and the motor would start but die when put in gear. If I ground the green wire it will stay on when in gear but I am wondering if this will fry my diode or harm my kickstand relay. She seemed harder to start with the green wire grounded but it is the only way I can get it to run in gear - any advice on this ?

Was there any reason to take the switch off to begin with? Its there for a reason...
