Someone tried to steal my 2000 Katana and failed. They cut the wires at the ignition switch and tryied to hot wire it. I finally received the new ignition switch but only have depressing results. I have no power, not to the dash or lights or starter. I've checked fuses and they all "looked good" I've tried to hook up my Eliminator and still the same result.

Any troubleshooting tips to offer? Is it worth trying to trace it with a multi-meter of should I just take it in to a shop?

    Thanks

Check the main fuse/circuit breaker. (I'm not sure which one the 2000 has.) Likely they shorted a hot wire to ground and blew it.

Agree.. main breaker and double check all the fuses once you have power...

If you have a multimeter and a little diagnostic skill and the time, download a service manual with a wiring diagram and trace it out yourself. Start at the battery and work your way out. No need to take it to a shop unless you don't have one of the above listed items.

The 98+ has a main fuse, 30A down near the starter relay.
