      • That sux some hairy ones.
I have embarked on the road of modding. Even if you BOLT ON new parts to a bike, there will be someone somewhere that has the same combination. With the Kat, you have a unique platform. Sure, some parts might be from other bikes, but no one will have the same combination. It will be truly yours and unique.

          • Just curious, (from a completely non-trained, self-taught, broke-more-than-my-share-of-parts-cause-I-tried-to-force-them machinist) but why did you drill the holes .002 smaller than the drill rod? It's hard enough to fit something into a hole drilled the same size.

            • He probably wanted a tight fit to prevent leaking. Maybe

I'm curious as well... I remember years ago having issues with latchup when driving stepper motors, but ceramic caps directly across VCC and GND of every chip fixed it. However, what I'm messing with now is driving a bunch of relays, which could be even noisier, so I'm wondering if any further steps need to be taken...

Maybe next time, put the contacts in the freezer or with some dry ice before putting them in?

The brass rod i found measured in at the .156 and my numbered drill index only offered me a .154 or a .158 option... and .002 is a decent press fit clearance.
The down side is that the plastic of the sensor is 23 years old and is brittle to a point...

                    • Ahh, the old limits of the toolset issue... I know that one.

I think I'd plan on CA glue filling .001" on each side, especially if you use thick CA (from a model train shop) and back the connections with epoxy after everything's together.

                          • Go talk to the base MC safety guy. Here on JBMDL you're OK as long as you've signed up for the class. The other point is that the AF doesn't define what a "sport bike" is, just that if you have one you need to take the SBRC. My base MC safety guy goes by the manufacturer's description and defines the Kat as "Sport Touring" so no SBRC required. I'm on the standby list as "non-required but interested."
