wiring diagram questions

Couldn't find any threads just about diagrams in general, so I thought I'd ask. At every switch or horn, lights, or whatever, there's usually a connecter, right? And at the black dots where wires join or slit, thats a splice? I've lost fire and just got a multimeter. Trying to track my problem down and was making sure I got it right. Thanks guys

Yeah I guess that's an idea, sort of a quick decoding of the diagram.
Wires cross, that is just lines crossing.
Wires cross with a dot, that is a connection.
The squares and rectangles represent connectors.
