Katana 750 problems

Hope this is the right place to ask this question I am pretty new to bikes and I have a problem I hope someone can help My 750 dies as soon as it is put in gear seems the spark stops any ideas?

does it jurk forward at all or just shuts off please give more detail age,size,mileage

i just thought of something make sure your kick stand is up when u put the bike in gear most kats will not run with kick stand down while in gear its a safety feature
