  • Rust in Carb

Hello all. I have a question about quick accumulation of rust in my carburators. The story goes that I cleaned out my carbs thouroughly last summer. The bike sat for 5-6 months without being used while I was out of the country (with fuel in the bowls, I know, I know) then I rode it for 1-2 months now in which time it has clogged up on me. I opened up the carbs and there was a nice pile of rust in every fuel bowl.

Is this normal for this amount of time?

Should I put inline fuel filters on the bike to stop any coming from the tank?

    Thanks

    not rust.
as fuel evaporates it leaves behind sediment.

Right . COULD be rust too , though . Inline filters are nice insurance .

I would also check the inside of the tank for rust.

Well , the gummy dried-fuel crap is usually kinda like a light brown kinda color , a little different looking I think .
