  • Carbs and modern fuel

    Hallo

I have a 2006 Katana 600 and I seem to always have issues with my carbs and the modern fuel used today.

I am hoping that a Katana Guru might be able to at least just help with a tip on how to take care of my carbs and keep them clean and not have to send them to a pro to have them cleaned every 3 months, it's costing me a fortune.

I really love my Katana and really don't want to change bikes for the sake of injection.

    Thank you in advance.

So, you have 2006. You live in Florida.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say that your tank probably has some scale on the inside due to the high ambient humidity and salt. And it's 10 years old.

Drain the tank, and coat it with something like (ideally) POR-15.

Then have the carbs cleaned again.

That should greatly reduce the issues.

Correct. I had issues with my 03 600 living in FL also. I swabbed out the tank and gave the carbs a clean and never looked back.
It also helps if you can find a station that serves up "plain" gas without ethanol. Some places list it as "marine grade" gas
