  • Pre-98 750 engine bearings, questions…

So I was checking the exploded views and component list on bikebandit,
and I see there's no replaceable camshaft bearings?
For the crankshaft, I see replaceable bearing sets.
For the pistons I see no replaceable bearings shown?
Are they included with the crank bearing sets?

This is all because my engine has low oil pressure, enough to trigger the 15 lb warning light, at 1800rpm fully warmed up.

Correct, there are no cam bearings, the head is machined to tolerance. The cam rides directly on the head.

Pistons have ring sets, not bearings. Connecting rod bearings will be a separate item.

I'd put a mechanical gauge on the bike and verify the pressure, could be a faulty pressure sensor or your oil pump pick up screen is clogged or the oil pump itself is failing.

I'd be surprised if the oil pump is failing, since it's gear driven off the motor.

If the pump gears are worn that can have an effect on pressure. I've seen this in pumps from auto units and they are driven from the distributor.

Well, I don't think anybody warms up to a guy who's petty enough to make pedantic corrections.
However, the last thing I have to check off is the oil pan screen, maybe I can remove that when time permits.
          Thanks.
