  • ATT:ENGINE SWAPPERS: Post 750 engine in a Pre 600 frame, Throttle problems

So here's the deal. I've got my new post 750 engine and carbs into my 600 frame. but none of my throttle cables available to me seem to be doing the job.

I'm still using my 600 handlebars and throttle but I checked them and they look identical minus the grips.

Whenever the cable is installed, the carbs are wide open, so the cable inside the sheath, or the sheath it's self seems too long,

My questions, what am I doing wrong? is there a cable difference between 600 and 750?

I know I can't use my 600 throttle cable because it doesn't have the bend in it at the carb side to mount properly.

good news is this is the first real problem I've had during my engine swap.

I might get some pictures after work.

Probably not super helpful but on a post the 600/750 use the same cables.

98+ use the push/pull cable setup, not the single that the Pre's use.

Good to know actually. Stops me from going out and buying post 600 cables

I'm only using the one that pulls the carbs open and leaving the other one off the bike

Not sure if the throttle assembly is a match between the pre and post. Though I do have a pre cable in a post control.

The post carb uses the 2 cable ststem not 1.

using the throttle assembly (but not necessarily the throttle tube) from the post was the solution
