  • Two Carbs Toasted? Air mix taper now a rivet

Just opened up the carbs on my 600 Katana. Everything was going good until I took out the air/fuel mix screws. Two of the screws had no taper on the tip. They'd broken off in the carb body... The carbs have definitely been worked on before, since at least one of the screws, not one of the broken ones, had the washer missing. I tried to knock the point of the taper on one of the carbs out, but the tip just got smashed down a little.

Is there any way to fix these carbs that have been spiked by the broken off air fuel mix tapered points? I'm thinking probably not, but I am open to suggestions.

I've experienced that a few times. I've used a wire wheel on a dremel and go over the point a lot of times. Then use a tool from a hook a pick set, like this:

And tap the broken point out.

If you get the broken points out of the carb bodies. I have all the replacement parts you need. Including the A/F screw o-rings.
