  • whine under acceleration since chain swap

I replaced my chain a month ago and since then I have noticed that under acceleration it has, almost sounds like a gear whining . I took everything back off, sprocket cover, and checked and it looked like it was grazing the chain guard on the swingarm but i fixed that and the problem still persists. I have adjusted the chain to whithin spec a couple of times and even measured the adjusters for wheel alignment accuracy. Everything seems to be bang on. It just worries me cause I dont want to screw something up by riding it like this all the time. and of course the faster i go the louder it gets. any help?

      Bad wheel bearing perhaps?
Is there any uneven wear on the sprockets from the chain?

I have checked the chain and it seems good to go. not sure about the wear on the sprockets. will check that this weekend and get back to you? What should I be looking for as far as unusual wear on the sprockets?

sprockets should be replaced with chain to ensure proper wear. could be source of noise. did you lube chain with new lube not lube that came on chain?

I lubed the chain before I installed it. I will check the sprockets this weekend. Thanks for the info. I might just go ahead and get a new set of sprockets and put them on. Probably need to anyway.

Check the chain tension while sitting on the bike to confirm that it is not too tight with weight on the swingarm. Never check chain tension while the bike is on the centerstand.
