  • New Battery.. No Start

Hi all. I have a 04 600. The bike will only start and run when I have it hooked up to the charger/starter. As soon as I unhook it and try to start the bike it acts like the battery is dead (headlights get really dim, wont even turn over.) I just got a new battery for it today and it is doing the same thing. Suggestions? THANKS

Have it tested, you may have a bad one.

If you needed to add the acid to it, it will need to charge over night. If it came with acid in it, you'd still need to charge it first.
Charge it over night, if it still wont start the bike take it back

Take it to the auto parts store and have it load tested, a battery with a damaged plate can carry a 12+ vdc charge but not carry the amperage needed.
It's possible for even a new battery to have a damaged plate.

+1, I took it that you filled and charged it. The main clue is, it will start with a charge booster. That lead me to believe the battery is bad.
