  • leaking oil from signal generator cover of 2002 suzuki katana gsx 600f

Hey all. Havent been on in a while. I have 2002 katana gsx 600f. I noticed it drips what I think is oil from the bottom of the signal generator cover (cover on left side of bike, I believe its the signal gen cover). I checked the tightness of the bolts and noticed that leaking oil out from one of the two top bolts. The one should insert a little ring gasket. I did replace new gasket and also applied silicon with it. But it still leaking out. It is leaking out from the bolt at pointy part of cover and I did insert a little gasket in the bolt. Can you help me. Thank you very much.

so you removed the cover, installed a new gasket? Did you clean the surfaces? You used automotive silicone like RTV?

yes sir, i did remove the cover, clean the surfaces really well, installed a new gasket but I don't know I should use RTV. Can you please help me with your experience. Thank you, sir

FYI, it is leaking out from one of the bolt at the right corner which I beleived that bolt have a little gasket insert in. Can I use RTV at that bolt as well? Thank you very much, sir.

the paper type gasket tend to leak where the seams on the case are
Bare minimum a dab in those spots
I think I remember some bolts with a copper washer on them
Be very careful tightening the bolts , gorilla force will strip them

If it has any rash on the cover in question inspect the inside of the cover when you have it off for signs of cracking
If there is signs of cracking its a really good time to clean and repair with some JB weld
