  • Clutch springs

    Hi all
I'm in the middle of a clutch change on my 89 600 however the new springs which are EBC heavy duty csk 026 appear to be around half inch to long. I understand later models had longer springs however dealer insists these are correct for year and is what EBC recommends. Anyone know if the longer springs were a backwards upgrade or am I being fed a load of bull. It certainly does not look correct to me and looks like it would cause damage to the basket if used.

The longer springs should just put more pressure on the clutch plates and make the lever somewhat stiffer. As long as you get the pressure plate bolts bottomed out on their collars and torqued properly (Use thread-lock and DON'T over-torque them. They'll break off.) the clutch should operate fine.

Thanks for the info. All done now and appears to be working ok. Still not the smoothest gearbox I've ever used but certainly quieter on gearchanges now
