  • Need help adjusting idle speed

Hi, I just got my first Katana (2005 600cc) several weeks ago, and am new to this group. My motorcycle idles very low and I'd like to adjust it: I found the idle speed screw, but it doesn't seem to want to turn. I don't want to force it and break it; has anyone else had this issue? Is there a trick to adjusting the idle? I'm sorry if this topic has been addressed before; I searched previous posts and could not find one that addressed this specifically. Thank you in advance for your help!

It's pretty hard to turn if it hasn't been adjusted in a while. If you're just using your hands feel free to give it a bit more force, but not too much.

It might be an indicator that you need to clean (at least the outside of) your carbs. They're not too hard to pull off, or at least loosen for you to get a better look at the idle adjust mechanism to see if anything is stuck.
