  • 2000 Katana 600 won't turn on after rain

    Hello everybody. I ve had my katana for about 4 months now and it rides fine until this morning. It down poured all night but it had cover it so i think that has nothing to do with it. I have no knowledge on mechanics i just ride lol . As i tried to turn it on nothing happens it dosent crank nothing, its a loud continues buzz as i hold the starter.     Not enough power to the starter for it to fully engage the starter clutch and kick it out to catch the motor.

    Check your battery.

            Battery is only like 2months old, charged it all night either way and still nothing) : someone on YouTube said bad starter can it be that? Expensive fix?

              If could be... but if your not going to actually test things to confirm... this fix could get really expensive with just replacing random stuff till it works.

              My suggestion to test the battery meant verify the voltage output under load.

              Even new batteries can be/go bad.

              If it passes load test, then move to the solenoid and verify it's working right. Measure the voltage it's putting out to the starter.

              Check all the power connections between battery and starter. Also verify all grounds are good.

              The last thing I would do is pull the starter and test it. If bad, rebuild/replace.

                well if it did happen to be something affected by rain directly then theoretically once it dries out it should work again. Has it dried out? On the other hand you could have gotten moisture on a connection which causes corrosion so following Krey's steps will allow you to inspect each step an narrow down the issue.
