I did the DIY as described on a thread here, and it worked fine. The way I see it, it's like comparing an expensive level to a clear hose with some water in it. Gravity is gravity, you can't improve on that. It may be more convenient, but still the same. Plus, you don't need to measure the vacuum, you need to match two.
