Besides vacuum hoses and boots etc...if the gasket or seal around the air filter (where is connects to the air box) was damaged or missing, could that be another possible cause of a vacuum leak?

Probably so although leaks on that side of the carbs don't make nearly as much of a difference as on the engine side.Comment
