    Am I to remove 6 then 5, or 5 then 6?

      It's case hardened steel, take it to a machine shop duder.

        I seriously doubt the threads are stripped. You must be talking about the allen head of the cap screw. You might try using a fresh allen socket that isn't rounded at all on an impact driver. If that isn't getting it, carefull application of a punch with a BFH usually does the trick on f'd up screw heads.
