  • Valve Cover Gasket

I'm about to start in on adjusting the valves and had a question about the gasket. The service manual says to put suzuki bond 1207B along the groove in the valve cover, and also on the cam end caps on the gasket. 2 questions: 1. What is the equivalent of the 1207 or should I go get some from suzuki, and 2. Is it really necessary to apply the stuff in the groove? The cam end caps definitely look like they need it. I just want to make sure it's done right so I don't have to worry about an oil leak down the road. Thanks!

I use black RTV sealant. Works just fine, although it must be a clean, oil free surface you put it on. Use something like Brakleen to clean it before you apply RTV. I didn't put any in the groove and it works just fine. Just do the cam caps.
