doing carbs -- one question please

Hello group.

I am cleaning and doing a factory pro stage 1 jet kit on my newly acquired 2006 katana 750. Generally I am learning and tuning it in - but as I go ahead and really do a real clean and dip for the night -- could anyone tell me what this item is and what it does and what do I need to do with it? Take it out?

Somehow I haven't seen the procedure for this item -- and it seems one of these is a bit damaged -- seems just cosmetic but - see picture. Not the adjustment screw the guy is pointing to but the flat brass item I highlighted in green just to the left and behind the adjustment screw.

The brass plugs that cover the F/A screws?
Or just the brass plug that's not used in that model?

Ahh - music to my ears -- leave them alone. So when I dip the carbs (all taken apart) that advice still stands -- leave them in there and leave them alone?

indeed, I don't even know how to take them out.

You'd have to drill them and replace.
