  • Imported ...750 with carb issues

Help pls i bought a 99 750 import. I am uk based but the bike is canadian. Its crap under 3000rpm, jerky and hard to start. Over 3000 all seems fine, lazy possibly but ok. I drilled the blanking caps off and turned air screws out 3 turns. I run a stock engine with venom tail pipe. I would possibly need to set the jet needle as the uk spec says clip 3 but canadian is fixed. Could that cause issues?? I also replaced the pilot jets to uk spec size 15 vs original 12.5.

Las question, when they say a de-tuned gsxr, what has been de-tuned. This bike is lazy and you have to ride the *** out of it to get any half decent performance delivery

Well, I still get 40us mpg when up and till yesterday so feul consumption is very good. I am trying my best to find out if the jet needle settings can impact severly on the bikes ride-ability to the degree that when you try and filter thru traffic at a steady 2000 / 2500rpm (coastingrather than under load) the bike jerks and is generally crap to try and ride. One is constantly having to ride it on the clutch to compensate for the jerky behaviour. The biggest difference between carbs/country's are we have 95 or 97 octane VS 87-94 octane. Pilot jets, air jet settings and jet needles are different.
I have changed pilot jets and adjsuted air screws to date...

I think it is normal to have to be on the clutch under 2500 RPM

one can cruise around in traffic at 2500 RPM without using the clutch?

Uuunnn, you use the clutch to shift gears. That's it.

                    Um...what?
90% of motorcycle forum members do not have a service manual for their bike.

If under 2500 and need the clutch, it's probably time to downshift.
