Ok. so I picked up a nice 600 naked project with a spare 750 engine from a guy who just didn't want to do it anymore. No keys so I had to literally drag it onto the truck with the front locked and drilled the lock off when I got home. the bike is mechanically complete, but the battery is toast, I have a new one, and the po indicated that it started but the idle ran really high. So, without even trying to start it, I took off the seat, removed the locked gas tank, and carbs. Cleaned about 20 years of dirt and dust from all the nooks and crannies, went over all the wiring and cleaned it all up, and ran a new set of bulbs and wires to the rear custom turn signals. I also touched up the paint on the frame and motor. repainted the tank (placed it on the frame of the stock bike to see how it looks) And after seeing something similar on a streetfighter I saw while surfing the web, I messed around with the rear tire (don't think it will last, but it sure looks hot).
Now that I am done making it look presentable for cruising the streets of Toronto, I want to address the high idle and what I should be looking for. While I have the carbs off, I am going to follow the carb sticky post and strip them down, clean, and reassemble them. Any suggestions as to what else I should be looking for prior to putting these back on?
Also, what is a good way of feeding fuel to the carbs without the gas tank on so i can test this bad boy?
Thank you for any suggestions.
