Stuck installing windshield

Got a new windshield for my 98 katana. I got the old shield off but I can not figure out how to get the the speedometer screw back in I got new clips but they bolts I have seem to be the wrong size I have 4 that are 5mm diameter maybe 32 unf, 2 go in the parking light and 2 into the windshield rubber grommets. the only other 2 screws I took out are 1/4-20 I bought this bike used so i have no idea if the guy before me used the wrong fasteners.
for reference I am talking about parts# 11 which goes int 17 from http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/model...emblies/125557

11 should just be a screw (pointed like a wood screw) and 17 is a tin nut that doesnt have specific threads if I remember right from my 04

yes 17 it is a bent sheet metal clip type thing. That makes sense the guy I got it from must have lost the screws and replaced them with something else, he also glued the rear light and turn signal together instead of replacing them.

the screws and nutplate from speaker kits will work.

Thanks guys I had the original clips and some nice zinc plated screws, now i just have to wait for all this snow to melt
