Get the MC now, too. The parts are cheap and there's no point in not doing it all at once. Better to KNOW it's right.

Toss the caliper. I have 2 front calipers rebuilt, don't think I have a rear. I will check.

          Rear MC Rebuild kit ~$30
          Life ~$(negotiable)

Your rear MC is probably OK. Whatever caused one side of your rear caliper to lock up may or may not affect other parts of the system either now or later on. Your life depends on your brakes. You do the math.

Granted, it's the rear brakes, not the front but if I were riding that bike I'd be replacing the caliper, pads and rotor as well as rebuilding the MC and (at least) flushing out the line. If money's tight then find another ride to work and pinch a few pennies until you can afford to do it right. Sucks not being able to ride but it sucks worse to be dead. Think of it this way: suck it up and do the job right or nickel and dime yourself to death replacing the same parts over and over until you finally make the problem go away.

A warped rotor could destroy your caliper. If it's even a little bit out-of-plane, it will constantly drag and get very hot. Also, when you squeeze the brakes, something will have to give in order to conform to the angled surface of the rotor. It could apply uneven pressure to the pistons causing them to bind (i.e. rather than pushing straight in on the pistons, it pushes on one side of the piston).

Had this happen to my Lincoln. Not fun...

Thanks for the tips guys. I called the salvage yard today, they want $70 for a used Caliper. The parts to rebuild it will cost roughly $80 online. So I'm going that route. I'm ordering new pads, pistons, seals, pins, and clips/springs.

I'll let you know how it turns out.
