  • Slight drip from oil plug even though it's tight.

I changed my oil the other week and made the switch to Mobil 1 Racing 4t.
After the change I noticed a very small drip coming off of the drain plug. When I went to make sure it was tight I noticed it was already torqued plenty.

Is it leaking because I switched oil or is it an unrelated issue?
There's probably no way to take out the plug and put it back in without losing all of my fresh oil is there?

When I went through the oil change there was nothing abnormal about the process. Everything went smooth and its not like I cross threaded the plug or anything.

Drain oil in clean pan, replace drain plug washer add thread sealer to plug, reinstall, pour oil back in. If your worried about oil, filter it through a coffee filter on the way back in.

      Update:

      Update:
So I stored the bike for the winter with the drip, no big deal the basement concrete needed the oil.
I bought a new oil plug and the little crush washer that goes with it.
Changed the oil, replaced the plug and I still have a drip from it.

      Any thoughts?

Stress crack from overtorquing the oil pan bolt? Have you cleaned the pan and inspected it closely?

Try some teflon tape around the threads....

Are you sure it is not stripped out? That is a common problem with the Kat's because people overtorque the aluminum pan.
