  • Stalls when throttled

alright, so i have 2000 GSX600F that when i got it, it had been sitting for a few years.
so i had taken apart the carbs (not from each other) and thoroughly cleaned them and drain the varnished fuel out of the tank.

now it starts, but gives me a bit of problems..
only way it will idle is when the choke all the way open and the idle screw all the way in... even then it only idles around 1000 rpm if that.

however, i am pretty sure that its starving itself of fuel cuz when i add a bit of starter fluid into the airbox, it runs like its brand new for a good 10 seconds, then its back to its old tricks...
which leads me to believe that this finicky thing will only run on premium fuel with an octane additive hahaha

    any ideas?

Pull the carbs back apart and re-clean out the pilot circuit, something is still blocked.

so i finally found the time to take the carbs apart. noted the air fuel screws were out 3 turns. is that normal for a sea level bike? i tried 2.5 turns and it barely even starts now... should it b more than 3 turns out?

That could be correct if it has a jet kit in it.

If the needle has clips on it then it's a jet kit. There is a thread on here somehwere that shows the different needles and what kit they are from.

2.5 turns out would be a good starting point for tuning. Something is probably still dirty.
