My 96 600 kat at 75-80 is right at if not just under 7000rpm is this a little high??? is it running hot??

on my post 750 80mph is 6k rpm i believe.
your bike is fine, you might have a larger rear or larger front sprocket.
your bike is not over heating due to the amout of wind at that speed!03/03/2010 - got 99 Kat 750 ,881 miles,blue, STOCK.
04/03/2010 - 2069 miles. Burley frame sliders, mesh mod, carbs overhauled.

05/22/2011- 11884 Miles, -GSXR cams -Futomo Valve +advancer

6000 at 75 sounds about right. I was a hair over 5k at 65 on my post 600, so 6grand should be within normal range.

You're fine, 90mph is 9k rpm on my bike.90% of motorcycle forum members do not have a service manual for their bike.
