  • Speedo off

I have a 97 600 and this summer I have noticed that my speedo is off by about 5mph. When it's showing that I am dong 70 I am really doing 65. Really just wondering if its the connection on the gauge, the cable or the end at the front tire.

They are all that way... going up one tire size in the front helps.

not much you can do with the cable driven pre speedometer.

I've been wondering the same thing mine is off by 10mph. I'm running a 120/60 and a 160/60 and also done the 520 conversion with the vortex sprockets but kept the factory tooth count.

I know that parts wear over time but from what I have read 120/60 is the right size for the front tire so I am guessing that the problem is in the cable and or the speeddo adaptor. I my have to order two OEM parts to see if that makes a difference.

It won't make a difference. 90% of the bike speedometers out there are a little optimistic. Some more than others. The only remedy I've found is to use a Speedo Healer if you have an electronic speedo. Those of us with Kats (and my Duc too) just have to learn to live with it.
