Will not drop below 5000 no mater how far you turn the idle adjusting screw?
You should be able to turn it off with that!

            Where are your AF screws?
Try disconnecting the throttle cable. Is it hung up somewhere or just not letting the throttle close? What about the choke? Is it closed? The pipes shouldn't be having that much of an effect.

A+ Check the throttle cable. It has to be holding the butterfly's open somehow.

Look for a binding throttle cable, or some massive vacuum leaks. More likely the throttle cable, though.
