  • Starter Clutch Cover

Quick question, couldn't find a good answer by searching.

I want to remove the starter clutch cover so that I can sand and powdercoat it. Do I need to drain oil first? Should I expect a leak. I plan on replacing the gasket as well.

    Thanks in advance.

There will be a small amount of oil retained behind the starter clutch cover & you will get a leak if you remove it while the bike is on a paddock stand, to stop this you can lean the bike at a slight angle against a handy wall with the mirror folded in & rags wrapped around the bar end while you do this but you must chock the wheels to prevent it rolling away

Also look out for the bolts, one of them (top left facing the cover) has an oil seal.
If you misplace that washer you might get a leak there..
