  • please tell me 1996 carbs fit my 88

    i made an offer on ebay for a set of carbs not thinking id win them. and i didnt bother checking if they would fit my bike cause i didnt expect to win them so..... the carbs i just bought are from a 1996 gsxf 600 katana . my bike is a 1988 gsxf 600. please tell me they will work .

      welli just bought some

      i needed to replace the needle valves in the float bowls for my original carbs cheapest i found was 200 to do all four. and i just bought a set of carbs for 140 so i have 2 sets now . why whatcha got?

        www.carbkitscapital.com has them alot cheaper. $14.95 per carb for the full kit, includes needle and seat assembly.

        As for the question... It would be possible to use them. Your probably going to need to look are having them rejetted/tuned for that engine. I'm not so sure stock will work perfectly. Pretty sure the carb bodie sizes were the same, with some minor differnce internal between 88-89 and 90-97 600 carbs.

          i think the 88's used 32mm carbs and the 89-97 used 33mm carbs

              Oh wow, no... not the same size at all.

              88-89s are BST31 and 90+ are BST33s.

              That could mean needing different carb to engine boots for the carbs your choosing to fit them.

              On the other hand.. the larger jet sizes for the 88-89 might be to make up for that difference in size on the intakes... so the later carbs may work with smaller jets just because they are larger.

              Best way to tell would be to use them, fit them up, and then properly tune the motor to see what needs to be done.
