  • gsxr 1000 engine on katana

ok so dnt call me stupid...call me crazy...lol...but if a person were to have lets say an older 600 katana and a gsxr1000 engine...what all would you have to do to make that work together and what parts would you need like the radiator and things like that..? or would it even be possible...I just thought it would be a kickass sleeper for all these 600 and liter bikes out there...lol and looks as if u can pick up a good gsxr engine off ebay for a pretty good price....i mean who wouldnt poo all over themselves if a 90's katana pulled up beside em and spanked that a$$...lol

honestly, thats a LOT of fabrication work to make that fit, plus the engine, ECU, wire harness, fuel pump for the EFI system, not to mention the required work to brace the frame after all the modifying to accomodate that motor and handle the power it throws down.

This is also not counting the necessary swingarm width increase for a 5.5-6.0" rear wheel and 180/190 rear tire to keep that power going to the ground effectively.

You can make your Katana 600 spank most bikes on the road in outright acceleration, but it's going to cost you. PM a member here named "suzukiray" if you're serious about it, and he can tell you how. With a worked over B12 engine, you should be able to pull 160hp at the back wheel. That'll do some damage!

yes. the bandit 11/1200 swaps are totally doable without much if any fabrication work necessary. I'd call that an easy mod for a sleeper that will really blow by a lot of vehicles.

Your 600 should be able take a vette anyways.

yup...it's an easy swap. I have everything you need. 1127 engine, wiring harness, carbs......just swap it all over. I will make you a killer deal on it if you ever decide to go that way.

I am gonna go ahead and disagree with you on this one. You will probably be able to run with a stock, base model, vette, depending on the year, but even on my 05 R6 I couldn't walk one, and if they have a Z06 or ZR1 you may as well save yourself the embarassment. A friend of my older brother has a C6 Z06 and would run away from my R6 once all that torque kicked in, now don't get me wrong, off the line I would smoke him, but in about an eighth or quarter mile he was pulling ahead. On my R1 I ran away from him from the line and doubt he would ever catch up. Unless we happened to run for a long time at top speed, mine being 186 mph, his being about 215, but that never happened so...

My vtx 1800 (slightly modified) could beat a viper in an 1/8 mile. My 0-60 times at the strip were around 3.7s. 7-7.2 in an 1/8

I have a feeling a kat 600 would not live up to that. Like cannonball said, maybe a base model vette.

exactly what i was saying a 600 kat should take a vette in the 1/8 and 1/4, i never said a modified vette but of coarse it would kill the 600. he never said his buddys vette was modified.

I will say the kat will take an older vette, or the ones running 350 smallblocks all day, but the newer C5 and C6's running the 400+CI engines, no. especially not the Z06 models, which will walk all over most anything short of a 1000.
