Temp question

I'm thinking about picking up an IR thermometer for some other stuff, but will I vet any useful info checking the temp of my exhaust can after a good run? My headers are wrapped so I'm not gonna get anything useful from them, if so what's a good range? I'm not having any problems or anything just curious.

The can isn't going to tell you much, too far from the pistons..

I figured as much, it was just somethng I was curious about since I'm getting the thermometer anyway, if there was any relevant information I could get from it as far as running condition

1100-1150 degrees is normal EGT for an air cooled engine
