Brake lights flashing?

Hello.
New to the forum, and to riding as well. I just bought a 2001 Kat from a guy in another state. It starts and runs great, but the only problem I have is that the brake lights constantly flash. They seem to flash 5 times to the left and then 5 to the right. When you squeeze the brakes it'll flash slower. Can someone tell me what might be going on here?

It sounds like someone installed something to make the lights flash?

That was my first thought. Where would a modulator to do this typically be installed?

You are going to have to trace the wires back. Surely somewhere in the tail section.
