  • What The Heck Is This Thing On The Top Of The Fork Tube?

First, not a Katana I am working on, but I think it could apply to(or could be installed on) a Kat.

I am working on yet another Yamaha SECA II. This one was apparently someone's track bike at one time (a bit of safety wire here and there, SS lines for the brakes, Fox Racing rear shock) and has nipples on the tops of both the front fork tubes, with a SS line connecting them, and what I thought was a air valve on top of one tube. Took the rubber cover off the valve, and it turns out to be a bleeder fitting, like you see on brakes.

I have no idea why someone would make that mod. Well, the only thing that comes to mind is quick replacement of fork oil?? But how would you get the right amount in each tube, it having one bleeder nipple for both tubes?

    Anyone?
