89 Kat1100 Tach is reading 2x???

Has anyone run into this wierdness? My Tach seems to be showing twice the RPM the engine is running....this is a new thing. Everything else is running great.

any ideas?

I had something like that happen to me for a little while - freaked me out, but it passed as mysteriously as it started!

I was thinking a bad ground somewhere? Not sure what to check.....hey it runs and it seems to go away after the bike has been running for a while.
