  • 1200 Engine Swop Shopping List

I’d like to install a Bandit 1200 engine in my Kat but after reading through the threads I’m still a little confused. (I know it does not take much)

Would it be possible for someone to write up a shopping list of what I need to get to go with the 1999 bandit 1200 engine I’d like to buy?

This would make my shopping trip to ebay a lot easier as apposed to guessing and buying the wrong parts.

    Thanks in advance.

      Thanks mreedohio

As for the wiring harness will it work with the existing instrument cluster, will I have to do any serious mods?

Oh boy I'm getting a little excited about my next project.

So far I’ve bought the 1200 engine (1999) which has done 14K, the crabs and CDI’s off eBay for £530.00

Can I use my existing wiring harness or will I have to replace it?
I’m also concerned about the Speedo pickup could anyone shed some light on this for me please?

I also got new wheels powder coated black and have managed to by extra fairings which are now getting a new coat of paint.

Now off to find some nice stainless steel headers…..

How do the crabs play into the engine swap? Is that to keep you fed?

Well you are a nicer person than me.

I figured the reason he got the Bandit engine so cheap was the seller wanted to get RID of the crabs.

I wouldn't dump an engine just to get rid of crabs. It's easier to just shave and use the shampoo.

May the road rise up to meet you.

                              Guys

Please could those of you who have done the B1200 swap post up some pics of the gear shifter modifications that needs to be made?

I'm also a little stuck on the speedo pickup assembly; some pics of this would also be great.

The other item is the clutch, should I go with hydraulic or cable. If I go with cable how easy is it to convert?

                              Thanks in advance...
