Um... I think you buy another petcock. I'm pretty sure those are press fit, and not designed to be removed.

Were you saying the plastic screen filter is pressed in or adhesived in? I know some weather strip adhesives are gas proof. I used that on my air intake boots its like a yellow goop looking stuff

Plastic screen filter is way too loose to have been pressed in, needs an interference fit for that.
It had to have been adhesived in.
              With what?
I don't know, but it must live in gas forever ~

                  no...
just white powder like residue surrounding the mating surface.

I know just the stuff. http://www.biosafe-inc.com/sealall.htm
Repaired my torn petcock diaphragm with it two weeks ago, while I wait to get a replacement. So far so good.

Thanks Astro4x4 ..... Will give it a try, nothing to lose except the filter floating around in the tank someday. Installed a high flow paper filter, so it won't be a big deal if that day comes.

                          At Walmart I found,
                          Loctite Stik'n Seal.
Claims to be gas and oil resistant.

Will give an update once gas is introduced.

Thanks to everyone for their help ~
