I would love to learn how to do all the work my bike needs myself, but sometimes it seems that's just not practical. However, judging from the missing and mismatched nuts, washers, and bolts already on my bike, I'm hesitant to let/pay someone to work on my bike for me. How do you guys and girls find a happy medium with this, and how do you find reputable mechanics in your area?

If you dont want to work on your stuff yourself...listen to word of mouth, if some one does good work ppl will be talking about it....Go to biker hang outs and ask around....

Seriously, ask around, go to bike nights. I met my mechanic when I was out riding one day (he rides the same roads) at a roadside cafe. Asked around, heard he was good. Started out by having him do a couple minor things for me just to see how he and his guys were (he has a certified suzuki tech that works for him). Now, I go there all the time, often it's just to hang out and BS with the guys in the shop.
In my experience, if you find a good one and make friends with them, they will usually take the extra time to make sure your chit is squared away and no extra costs, usually a little discount.2006 GSXR 600 Gone to Gixxer heaven
