again i have a 05 katana that starts up but cuts right off any sugestions

is the petcock set to the on or fuel position ? sounds like a fuel related problem

If it cuts right off, not sputters and dies, we're probably not looking at a petcock issue. I'm thinking kickstand cutoff switch problem... pretty common - kickstand's not all the way up, won't disengage the safety, our guy here puts the bike in gear and it just dies...
