idle adjustment cable

Has anyone swapped out the factory pos cable with one from a diff. bike that has the actual cable(metal) instead of the rubber tube attached to a plastic piece. if you have what bike did it come from?

by the way my bike is an 88 kat 600

if ya find one let me kno...my cable is like frozen or somethin...i turn it and turn it but nothing happens with the idle and the screw pushes itself back to where it was...
