ps. If you dont know intake from exhaust on an engine, adjusting the valves might be something you hold off on, till you have a friend that has done it give you a hand the first time. Your past that, this comment is for others that are thinking of trying this.

Yeah, well you should only attempt such small surgeries with a manual and than it is just a matter of being able to read...
I have done it with the manual and the computer in the garage and it worked pretty well... still riding it...

Don't these engines have a magnetic drain plug? Maybe if he's lucky the nut will be stuck to that when he goes to drain his oil.
