  • Front wheel removal?

I fell kind of stupid for asking this but can someone break down in steps how to remove the front wheel.

    Thanks, Nick

PS: I don't have wheel stands, but i do have small automotive jack stands that could probably be used.

    Make one of these
Then, loosen the axle pinch bolt.
Loosen the axle nut, and remove the axle.
(Pay attention to where the spacers are)
    Remove wheel.

On some bikes you might have to remove the brake calipers to get the rotors totally free.

If I'm in a hurry, and I usually am, I will do it with jack stands.

Put bike on center stand on a piece of wood to get a little extra height.
        Take rear wheel off.
Pick up front wheel and set each fork leg on a jack stand at full height.
Remove caliper bolts. Calipers will have to come off otherwise the wheel will only get halfway out before it hangs on the calipers.
        Remove axle nut.
        Remove pinch bolt in fork.
        Remove axle.

Although the stand is really the better way to do it.

        Just because they sound the same doesn't mean they are: there≠their≠they're; to≠too≠two; its≠it's; your≠you're; know≠no; brake≠break
