where is the better/correct place to adjust the gear shifter? On the splined shaft or adjust those two little nuts?

I want to adjust the shifter further down as I feel I am straining my ankle to shift up.

Also can I adjust this too far and negatively affect anything?

    Thanks

Easiest way is to loosen the 10mm pinch bolt, and move it up / down a notch or two on the splined shaft.

If it is close where you are, use the adjuster. If you need a gross adjustment, then move the shifter itself.
